Eligibility Criteria of PM Yashasvi Scholarship Scheme for OBC/EBC/DNT Students

The PM Yashasvi Scholarship Scheme is designed to assist OBC/EBC/DNT college students pursuing studies beyond Class XII.   • All IIMs, IITs, IIITs, AIIMSs, NITs, NIFTs, NIDs, Indian Institutes of Hotel Management, National Law Universities, and different Central Government Institutions may be eligible for inclusion within the Scheme, furnished they observe for inclusion and are recommended by way of the Selection Committee, or are at once advocated by means of the Selection Committee.

Notes:
1. For new entrants (first-year students), the institution will select eligible OBC/EBC/DNT students based on merit as per the entrance examination merit list. The entrance exams for each course are listed in Annexure I. Students must apply under the Scheme on the NSP.
2. For renewal applications (students joining the second or subsequent years of the course), the institution's verification of the application confirms that the student has been promoted to the next class and has taken admission.
3. Students should purchase a computer/laptop and accessories in the first year of receiving the scholarship. They must submit the purchase bill when applying for the scholarship in the subsequent year. If the purchase amount is less than the released amount under this head, the institution will adjust the difference against the grant proposed for the student on the NSP.

Benefits of the Scholarship

Eligible OBC/EBC/DNT students who secure admission in the notified institutions will receive scholarships to cover the following expenses:

  • Full tuition fee and non-refundable charges: Up to ₹2.00 lakhs PA for every student for private institutions and up to ₹3.72 lakhs per annum per student for private sector flying clubs for Commercial Pilot Training and Type Rating Courses.
  • Living expenses: ₹3,000 per month per student.
  • Books and stationery: ₹5,000 per year per student.
  • The latest computer/laptop: One-time assistance of up to ₹45,000 per student for a reputed brand with accessories like UPS and printer.

Notes:
1. The scholarship will become payable immediately after the student secures admission and starts attending Regular classes.
2. The payment of tuition fees and other non-refundable charges will be made directly to the institution by the Central Govt. through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode.
3. The payment for living expenses, books and stationery, and computer/laptop with accessories will be made directly to the student by the Central Government through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode.
